Cooper Classics LTD is particularly excited about our latest offering, an extremely early 1965 912 that we consider to be a historically significant car for Porsche enthusiasts. This 1965 Porsche 912 was completed in July 1965, and was the 421st 912 Built out of the initial production run of 700 912s built by the Reutter (then owned by Porsche) factory. This 912 was delivered new to Germany, as all the early 912s were. In 1965 it was purchased by a US based couple looking to tour Germany, and they chose to purchase this 912 as opposed to rent a car. After their trip, the car was imported to California. Our 65 912 is in excellent condition inside and out, with the paint appearing as new, and the interior also being lovingly preserved. The paint appears at most 5 years old. The seat covers and carpeting are new, while the remainder of the interior remains in excellent original condition. One of the most distinctive traits, amongst many, of this first year 912 is the body color painted dashboard, in the same style as the 356. For only 1965, Porsche did not paint the gauge surrounds on the 912 Black, and started doing this in 66. These extremely limited, and extremely rare 912s are called the Painted Dash series of 912s. The COA confirms that this 912 retains its matching numbers engine which is in excellent condition along with its original color combination of Light Ivory over Black. The previous owner, whose brother in law was a Porsche Mechanic is said to have upgraded the engine with a big bore kit, along with Weber Carburetors to take advantage of the additional power.  Numerous Servicing and Registration records date back to 1969, showing fastidious servicing at Porsche specialists during its single ownership from 69-2020 in California. There is zero rust on this 912, and the underbody appears pristine. Within the last few months, this 912 has been extensively serviced by a prominent mechanic and the performance is excellent. We replaced the Weber Carburetors in September 2022, and the result is a 912 that runs like a dream with plenty of power. The clutch was replaced in 2020 by Lomita 911 Service, Inc. An electric fuel pump helps this 912s matching numbers engine start instantly from a cold start. An original style Blaupunkt radio is currently installed in the car. The rear deck has been replaced due to a minor low speed impact early in its life.  This 912 has been maintained, serviced, and cared for as necessary, but still retains a remarkable character that is hard to find in overly restored cars. All this 912 is in need of is its next caretaker for the next 50 years. Call us today to acquire the most historically significant Porsche 912 currently listed for sale today. This car comes with, repair records, prior registrations, and COA.
