This 280se 3.5 Cabriolet has been in the same family for the past 32 years. It is presented in its original colors of White (DB 050) over red (243) leather interior. With a very low documented mileage of just under 28,000 this 3.5 is a fantastic original survivor. The car’s first owner ran a Mercedes Benz dealership and it was eventually sold to a family in the Midwest where it remained until recently.
The paint, leather interior, and carpeting are all in magnificent original condition with an ever-so-slight patina in certain areas which attests to the car’s originality. The black convertible top has been changed, but the headliner is also believed to be as delivered. The chrome is all original and like new as well as the Zebrano wood. Factory options on this car are working BEHR air conditioning and Becker radio, center armrests, and the front padded center seat adapter, making the car a six passenger.
The undercarriage is clean, rust free, and tidy as well as the original and unadulterated trunk floor. The engine compartment features a significant amount of hard-to-find original and authentic details in excellent condition including the plastic distributor cover, the original M/B spark plug wires and fan belts which arrived with the car (replaced with new) and are included, original red a/c hoses, original like-new firewall padding, original fuse box, and the factory valve adjustment sticker which remains on the driver side valve cover. On the road the runs smooth, brakes well and handles great.
This remarkable car is the best example of an original 3.5 we have ever offered for sale. Sought by collectors worldwide, truly unique 280se 3.5 Cabriolets are becoming harder and harder to find in this rare condition. Come and see for yourself, this is truly a gem to be had. Sold with factory first aid and toolkit, roadside emergency triangle kit, owner’s manuals, datacard, warranty service book, and inspection records back to 1971 attesting to the original mileage.
