This
1962 Porsche 356B Cabriolet Super 1600 T-6 is Ruby Red with a Black
Interior and Black Top. It is not often that one can find a Porsche
356 with only 18,000 original miles. It has been professionally
restored to excellent condition. The original owner, Mr. Donald
Rose of Port Washington, NY, ordered the car on May 7th 1962 in
the current color combination, and had it delivered from Stuttgart
to New York City. Mr. Rose sold the car to a Mr. Ralph Ingersoll
II of New York City. On April 12th 1968 Mr. Ingersoll sold the car
to its third and most recent owner who also resides in the Port
Washington Area. After purchasing the car he drove it for a couple
of years and then the car sat in his garage during the 70s and 80s.
In the late 80s the car had a mechanical and minor cosmetic restoration
with the owner put just a few miles on the car. Because of its inactivity
the engine was completely rebuilt in 2006 by a Porsche Specialist
in Long Island, NY.
After receiving the car Cooper
Classics has performed a much more thorough restoration to bring
everything up to date including: new paint, new brightwork, new
carpeting and boot cover, new chrome wheels and tires, new exhaust,
all gauges rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer, etc. The previously
restored seats were in excellent condition, and did not need to
be replaced. The car has excellent original floors which have never
needed to be replaced and we just had the undercarriage cleaned
and detailed. Mechanically everything has been attended to and the
car is ready to be driven and enjoyed right away as we had it completely
fine-tuned by a professional Porsche Mechanic. All Documentation
including a copy of the original order, bill of sale from 1968,
and 30 years of records comes with the car. The car includes its
original working radio, original tools, and owner's manual. It is
very rare to find a low-mileage car in this condition with matching
numbers that can be driven anyplace without having to do any additional
work. |
