1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet
Totally Restored, Concours Condition, Floor Shift, Behr A/C, 39,000 Original Miles
Restored nut-and-bolt in 2003 by marque specialist Jurgen Klockemann of San Jose, California, this car has traveled only 810 pampered miles in the 11 years since completion. Cooper Classics Collection first purchased the car in December, 2011 and had the car completely refreshed and put to concours standards once again. The eight year old paintjob had developed some minor blemishes, so we had the car completely repainted in its previous color of Dark Olive (DB291). As the car sits, the paint is absolutely as new, and the overall vehicle cosmetics are faultless. The previous owner purchased the car from us in March, 2012, and during his 2+ year ownership he put only 50 miles on the odometer, using it as a get-around-town car in Easthampton, NY. As one might imagine, this car is mechanically superb, allowing the driver to experience the full thrill of the M116 V8 engine in all its glory. The factory A/C unit blows strong and keeps the interior compartment ice cold, even with the top down! Especially notable on this car are the hand-made interior compartment rails made from matched Walnut Burl. We honestly think this is one of the very best examples of of the W111 3.5 in existence, certainly one of the best to be offered for sale in recent years. For anyone that has been holding out for the right 280SE 3.5 Carbio--make no mistake, this is it.
Included with sale are all tools, the original leather trimmed interior rails, Mercedes Datacard, service records, and restoration paperwork.
