1967 Porsche 911S Coupe
California Car, Single Owner since '72, Matching Numbers

The Porsche 911S marks the beginning of an era in which the German manufacturer would produce some of the best driving cars in the history of the brand. This 1967 911 S, with chassis # 308181, is a true specimen of this first year Super. The car retains its original 2.0 L H6 engine, an impressive motor that would produce nearly 25% more power than the standard 911 at the time. In addition, this is the only year in which the US would receive a Weber carbureted 911 S. When the 68 model year was introduced back to the states, it returned with MFI, making the US 1967 911 S one of the most pure driving Porsches in the minds of many Porsche cognoscenti.

The example shown here has been a California car for nearly all its life. And, as documented by an original sales contract along with numerous registration receipts and other documents, it has had just a single owner since 1972.During this period of long-term ownership, the husband and wife team who had the car were fastidious in maintaining and servicing their prized Porsche 911. They kept extensive records, all of which accompany the vehicle today. By May of 2000, after 38 years of maintaining and enjoying this very special 911, the husband and wife owners decided it was time the car had a thorough seeing-to, and had the car sent to famed Porsche mechanic Gerry McCarthy of KAM in Waterbury, CT. Gerry made recomissioning this car a real labor of love, and was uncompromising in the amount effort he put into it. The engine and transmission were both completely rebuilt. The engine received new pistons, valves, rocker arms, springs, etc., but McCarthy preserved the original engine case, crankshaft, and camshafts. For the cosmetic component of the restoration, the car was taken down to metal and repainted in its original Ivory White, which still looks stunning today. The interior was redone at the same time to match the original colors.

Well preserved and mechanically sound short wheelbase 911s can be hard to come by, let alone an S with one owner for all but three years of its life. For that reason alone, this car presents an enticing proposition to both the Porsche collector, as well as the individual wanting a no-stories and well-sorted early 911. The car comes highly documented, including all engine, paint, and body work, and is accompanied by a Porsche CoA.
