1967 Porsche 911 Soft Window Targa
Matching Numbers 130hp Weber Carburetors * Factory Colors * Kardex
Delivered new to Hollywood, CA in 1967 this Porsche 911 Soft Window Targa is one of only 718 examples produced. The original owner was Jay Ward, a producer of animation and commercial projects including Rocky and Bullwinkle. The car remains in its original color combination of Irish Green over Black Interior and retains its original engine and transmission with verification provided by the accompanying Porsche Kardex. Porsche introduced the Soft Window Targa as an alternative to a convertible version under the assumption that the United States, a huge market for Porsche, would soon ban convertibles outright. In 1968 Porsche would replace the folding rear window with a fixed glass roof, so the limited run of early Targas are quite sought after by early Porsche collectors.
The example offered here is in exceptional original condition and benefits from one repaint. The interior is original, quite lovely, and finished with a set of very rare early sport seats. The paint is impeccable, as is the engine compartment which is fully detailed. All of the above is a result of diligent servicing and ownership by a long term PCA member. After enjoying the car for several decades they turned over stewardship to a Porsche expert and enthusiast who recently performed a cosmetic and mechanical refresh. Overall the car is a pleasure to drive and is road-ready, needing nothing but a new owner, an early fall morning, and open roads.
