1941 Lincoln Continental Coupe

Restored, Collector Owned, California Car

The Cooper Classics Collection is proud to present this brilliantly restored 1941 Lincoln Continental Coupe. Only 850 of these majestic luxury cars were ever constructed. When first produced, the Continental was easily identifiable as a Lincoln, but its seven inch longer hood and body sectioned to be 3 inches lower than its Zephyr counterparts left no confusion about its refinement and subtle good taste. The fenders, both front and rear, were lengthened proportionally with the body. Positioning the spare wheel and tire inside a metal cover at the rear created a new design element, the continental kit, that would be a recurring element of American design for the next two decades. Of the surviving examples, few can claim the condition and careful ownership offered by the example here. The car comes to us from the estate of a highly regarded psychoanalyst from Beverly Hills, CA. This gentleman, a passionate collector of fine automobiles, ordered a complete nut and bolt restoration on this fine V12 automobile. The vehicle was used sparingly during the previous owners lifetime, and at the time of his passing it was put into climate controlled storage. Upon our recent acquisition, the car was found to still present in fantastic restored cosmetic condition. Of course the vehicle needed a complete mechanical recomissioning, which was performed by a top vintage auto mechanic located in Beacon, NY. As it sits the car is an absolute stunner. The paint is gorgeous, and the interior looks good as new. Even the original radio still plays! The original 4.8 L V12 engine, with sequentially numbered heads, rumbles to life with a push of the button, and shifts confidently through the 3-speed column mounted shifter. Sounding the two immense air horns under the hood while chugging along at highway speeds really gives one the feeling that they are piloting a true locomotive. A Classic Car Club of America Full Classic, the Lincoln Continental has never lost its appeal to drivers who appreciate its performance, quality, exclusivity and style. And the example presented here offers all of the above in spades.
